# Revenge From Mars (Pinball 2000) in Pinbox

## Settings (eg. country) or highscores don't save

Pinbox writes to a virtual NVRAM in the form of a file on the system. This system is janky.

To fix this issue:

1. **Ensure that there are 4 balls in the machine!** This may sound absurd, but if any balls are missing, the machine *will not* write any changes to the NVRAM.
2. Connect a keyboard to the system. Change the desired settings, play a full game to the 'Game Over' point, and hit F1 on the keyboard to soft-exit the software. This is the only way that changes are saved to NVRAM reliably. You *must* play a full game first!

The NVRAM files are located in `roms/savedata`; on the system I was working on, the full path was /root/pinbox/roms/savedata
