Dimensions of Nespresso cups
I measured these myself with arbitrary calipers, so don't expect super high precision. But it should be good enough for a project. Rounded to the nearest 0.1mm.
Measurement explanation:
- The tip diameter is the diameter of the tip or spout at the 'bottom' of the cup (when holding the label upwards). It's on the side that the blades go into, and it's the narrowest part of the cup.
- The body diameter is the diameter of the main cup itself. The 'bottom' here refers to the tip side, and the 'top' refers to the flare side. The bottom diameter is always smaller than the top diameter.
- The flare diameter is the diameter of the flare or flange that's found at the 'top' of the cup; it's the side that typically has some sort of label printed on it, specifying the coffee variety.
- The total height is the height of the cup in its entirety, as measured from the tip to the flare, inclusive. This does not include any bulging of the cup due to internal air pressure; for measurement purposes, the flare's foil is compressed such that the measurement can be taken based on the edges of the flare using calipers.
Of this list, the only officially licensed Nespresso cups are the Starbucks cups. Therefore, it's probably reasonable to take those measurements as "what the size of the cup should be according to Nestle".
- Albert Heijn (Perla):
- Tip diameter: 10.6 mm
- Body diameter, bottom: 23.9 mm
- Body diameter, top: 27.2 mm
- Flare diameter: 37.1 mm
- Total height: 28.4 mm
- Starbucks:
- Tip diameter: 8.8 mm
- Body diameter, bottom: 24.1 mm
- Body diameter, top: 30.0 mm
- Flare diameter: 37.0 mm
- Total height: 28.9 mm
- Lidl (Bellarom), aluminium swirl:
- Tip diameter: 11.4 mm
- Body diameter, bottom: 23.9 mm
- Body diameter, top: 29.4 mm
- Flare diameter: 37.0 mm
- Total height: 28.3 mm
I'll probably expand this list over time, as I get my hands on different cups.
